Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay Femenina 2026 🇺🇾 (2.2) WE – Stage 3 – Minas – Maldonado : 100 km
Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay Femenina is a UCI 2.2 multi-stage women’s road race across the varied landscapes of eastern Uruguay, combining coastal plains, rolling countryside and the low mountain ranges of the interior. The route features predominantly paved roads, open agricultural sections and undulating terrain, with short climbs and gradual descents creating frequent changes of rhythm. The surrounding sierras provide the main elevation challenges, with moderate gradients around 4–8% and occasional steeper ramps requiring short accelerations. Narrow rural roads, technical corners and exposed sections make positioning important, while coastal winds, warm temperatures and humidity can influence race conditions. The competition combines road stages with individual time-trial racing, demanding both endurance and sustained power. Breakaways can develop on open roads, while the peloton may split on the climbs before regrouping through valleys and flatter sections. Finishes can produce bunch sprints, reduced-group battles or late attacks, depending on the terrain.
The last stage of the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay Femenina it will be disputed on Sunday, November 1, linking Minas with Maldonado through a route of 97.7 kilometers that will combine mountain landscapes, transition sectors and an arrival in the heart of the departmental capital, where the first winner in the history of the competition will be crowned.
The day will start from Mines, leaving behind the capital of Lavalleja to initially take the Route 12 and later the Route 60, one of the most characteristic panoramic corridors in the region. From the first kilometers, the peloton will once again encounter undulating terrain, surrounded by mountains, fields and small valleys that will accompany the return to the department of Maldonado.
Along the route, the race will cross the area of Ramallo, where the first top prize of the day will be disputed, before heading towards Sugarloaf, city deeply linked to the mountain landscape of the department. There, the Vuelta will include a sprinter prize in the vicinity of the main square, adding a new sporting attraction to a town marked by the proximity of the Sierras de las Ánimas and for its strong historical and rural identity.
From Pan de Azúcar, the stage will continue along the Route 9, in the direction of San Carlos, until reaching the junction with the Route 12. During this section the second summit prize will be competed, before the runners head towards the area Whale Point, progressively leaving the mountain landscape behind to approach the coast of Maldonado.
In the final kilometers, the peloton will take the Interbalnearia Route, touring the coastal sector that connects Punta Ballena with the city of Maldonado. The competition will enter the urban environment through Manuel Belgrano, to continue along the francisco Acuña de Figueroa Avenue, where the definition of the day will be developed.
The arrival will take place in front of the Communal Building of the Municipality of Maldonado, an emblematic setting of the city that will receive the outcome of this first edition. There, the runners will complete the last effort of the competition and the first champion of the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay Femenina will be known, in an arrival that promises to become one of the most significant moments of the test.
After three stages and a prologue, the competition will find its outcome in Maldonado, putting an end to four days of international cycling, landscapes of the east of the country and a first edition destined to occupy its own place in the history of Uruguayan cycling.
