Ster van Zwolle 2025 🇳🇱 (2.2) ME – Zwolle – Zwolle : 195,8 km
The Ster van Zwolle is a single-day bicycle road race held annually in Zwolle, in the Dutch region of Overijssel.
Axel van der Tuuk has become the winner of the 64th Salverda Bouw Ster van Zwolle, this year also the fourth stage of Metec Olympia’s Tour. The Metec-Solarwatt rider was the fastest of a leading group of six that just stayed ahead of the peloton. Rick Ottema came in second. Morten Nortoft came in third.
The public had to wait three extra weeks for the Salverda Bouw Ster van Zwolle 2025, but it turned out to be worth it. From Ommen onwards it did not stop and so it became a war of attrition in the full finale. But also a continuous cat-and-mouse game between attackers and the peloton, a scenario that lasted until the finish in Zwolle, because only a few seconds after the six leaders the pursuers thundered over the finish line.
But that didn’t bother Ottema (Diftar), Van der Tuuk (Metec-Solarwatt) and Nortof (Colorquick). Together with Joshua Huppertz (Lotto-Kernhaus) Karsten Feldmann (Coop-Repsol) and Mads Andersen (Airtox-Carl Ras) they stayed just ahead of the peloton. That after Timo de Jong of VolkerWessels had to let the leading group go with the finish in Zwolle in sight.
Van der Tuuk was a happy man in the provincial capital of Overijssel. “I kill two birds with one stone. I have always wanted to win the Ster van Zwolle and at the same time I also take a stage in Olympia’s Tour. I had already hoped for that during the time trial in Beltrum, but then I didn’t have the super day that I needed. When Andersen came out of the bend with a bit of a lead, I sent out in the hope that someone else would close the gap and luckily that happened. When I accelerated and managed to get over those other guys with a jump, then I knew it was in the bag.”
Rick Ottema proved to be a sporting loser. “Of course I was determined to win. When Axel sent out I felt I had no other choice than to drive towards the man in front of us. I succeeded, but then it was still a long way to the finish. Axel came from my wake and deservedly won. For us it means another almost victory for Diftar, just like Peter Schulting the day before I ended up in second place, but I am convinced that victory will come.”
The organization of the Salverda Bouw Ster van Zwolle was very happy with this edition, which was different, but because of that the sports fans in Zwolle and wide surroundings saw not only a beautiful race in the region, but perhaps the most beautiful edition of the past years thanks to a strong field and riders who wanted to make it a race from start to finish. And that gives everyone motivation for the 2026 edition.
