Chrono Féminin de Gatineau is a UCI 1.1 individual time trial for elite women, held on a predominantly paved course through the rolling roads and urban surroundings of Gatineau. The route typically covers around 18–22 km and combines fast open sections with gentle climbs, descents and technical changes of direction. Moderate rises can reach 5–8%, while total elevation gain is usually around 200–250 metres, creating a course that rewards sustained power rather than pure aerodynamics alone. Riders start individually at fixed intervals, making pacing and effort control central to the race. Open roads can expose competitors to changing wind direction, while corners, roundabouts and narrow sections demand precise line choice and controlled braking. The absence of drafting means every acceleration and gradient change must be managed alone, with momentum particularly important on rolling sections. The course encourages a smooth, aerodynamic rhythm, but the repeated rises can gradually increase fatigue. The finish is determined purely by elapsed time, with small differences often decided through pacing and efficiency over the final kilometres.
Marlen Reusser (Movistar) smashed the one-day individual time trial event at the Chrono Féminin de Gatineau on Wednesday, showing top form as she heads into the UCI Road World Championships.
Reusser is the reigning time trial World Champion and will line up next Sunday in an attempt to defend her title in Montreal.
In Gatineau, Reusser covered the 20.4km course in a winning time of 25:23, beating runner-up Felicity Wilson-Haffenden (Lidl-Trek) by 43 seconds and third-placed Lauretta Hanson, also Lidl-Trek, by 1:17.
