African Continental Championships WE – Road Race 2026 (CC) WE – Kisumu – Kisumu : 122,3 km
African Continental Championships 2026 – Women Elite is a UCI African Continental Championship road race held over 122.2 km around Kisumu, Kenya, with approximately 1,158 metres of elevation gain. The route follows a predominantly single-loop format, linking paved urban roads with open, rolling countryside north of the city. Most of the course is relatively fast, but the prominent Gambogi climb creates the main sustained selection point, rising from the Lake Victoria basin toward higher ground before the route descends and returns toward Kisumu. The ascent demands controlled pacing and can stretch the peloton, while the descent and flatter return roads offer opportunities to regroup or organize a chase. Warm temperatures and humidity add to the endurance demands, while exposed sections can make wind relevant. National-team tactics encourage early breakaways, selective attacks on the climb and counterattacks on the run-in. The flat finish favors a reduced sprint, late breakaway or solo move.
