65th Vuelta Ciclistica Internacional a Guatemala 2026 🇬🇹 (2.2) ME – Stage 2 – Morales – San Antonio la Paz : 212 km
Vuelta Ciclistica Internacional a Guatemala is a UCI 2.2 multi-stage road race across the varied landscapes of Guatemala, combining high-altitude mountain roads, volcanic foothills, rolling countryside and flatter valley sections. The route typically features around ten stages, with distances and profiles varying considerably between days. Mountain stages include long, sustained climbs with gradients commonly around 5–8%, while steeper ramps can exceed 10%, creating demanding tests of climbing ability and endurance. Narrow roads, sharp bends and technical descents require precise bike handling and careful positioning, particularly at higher elevations where reduced oxygen availability increases physical stress. Warm temperatures, humidity and sudden tropical rainfall can further affect energy management and road conditions. Breakaways often form early, while the peloton controls the pace before the more selective climbs. The field can fragment significantly in the mountains before regrouping on descents and flatter sections. Stage finishes can produce bunch sprints, reduced-group battles or solo attacks, with accumulated fatigue influencing the overall classification.
