Oita Urban Classic Road Race 2026 🇯🇵 (1.2) ME – Oita – Oita : 150,8 km
Oita Urban Classic Road Race is a UCI-sanctioned one-day road race through the rolling countryside and urban outskirts of Oita, combining paved rural roads, short climbs, fast descents and technical city sections. The course typically covers around 160–180 km and features repeated changes of gradient rather than sustained mountain ascents. Short climbs generally range between 500 metres and 2 km, with steeper ramps reaching around 8–12%, creating repeated bursts of high-intensity effort. Narrow roads, sharp bends, roundabouts and frequent changes in road width make positioning important, particularly before climbs and during approaches to the finishing area. Warm temperatures and humidity can add to the physical demands, while wet conditions may reduce grip on technical sections. Breakaway attempts can develop early before the peloton settles into a controlled chase, with successive climbs gradually stretching the field. Descents and flatter roads allow groups to regroup before the next acceleration. As fatigue accumulates, late attacks become increasingly dangerous. The finish can come from a reduced group, a late solo move or a sprint after the final selective sections.
