MTB Hero Marathon World Cup 2026 – 4 – Südtirol Dolomites – Selva Val Gardena, Italy 🇮🇹 : DISTANCE 86 km, ELEVATION 4.500 HM
The HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup is a premier international mountain bike series that unites several of Europe’s most legendary long-distance races under a single competitive banner. This circuit is designed to crown the world’s most consistent marathon specialists by challenging them across diverse and extreme terrains, ranging from Mediterranean coastal trails to the high-altitude peaks of the Dolomites. One of the most distinctive features of the HERO series is its inclusive format, which allows thousands of amateur and master cyclists to compete on the exact same courses and on the same day as the world’s top elite professionals.
In 2026, the HERO Südtirol Dolomites returns as the most spectacular mountain bike marathon in the world. Once again, the race will also host the round #4 of the HERO UCI Cross-Country Marathon World Cup, where aspiring World Cup champions will take on the legendary courses around the majestic Sella massif:
Men: 86 km with 4,500 m of elevation gain
Women: 60 km with 3,200 m of elevation gain
Riders will face relentless climbs, technical descents, and ever-changing terrain across the four Ladin valleys of the Sellaronda and the Seiser Alm. A true test of strength and spirit, the HERO pushes both amateurs and professionals to their limits – demanding endurance, determination, and the heart of a real HERO.
The HERO Südtirol Dolomites takes place in Selva Val Gardena (1,564 m), in South Tyrol, Italy’s northernmost province. The Val Gardena valley is an internationally renowned ski, bike and trekking area surrounded by the spectacular Dolomites rock towers, a UNESCO World Heritage since 2009. The famous alpinist Reinhold Messner once said: “The Dolomites are not the highest mountains in the world, but definitely the most beautiful ones.”
TEMPERATURES
In mid-June, Selva Val Gardena enjoys mild to warm summer temperatures, typically between 18°C and 25°C in the valley, while higher-altitude trails can be cooler, ranging from 10°C to 18°C—perfect for challenging and refreshing mountain bike rides.
