La Périgord Ladies 2026 🇫🇷 (1.1) WE – Rouffiac – Boulazac : 126,2 km
La Périgord Ladies is a UCI 1.1 classification one-day event that unfolds across the undulating and picturesque landscapes of the Dordogne region in southwestern France, where the roads wind through dense forests, rolling vineyards, and medieval villages perched on limestone ridges. The terrain is a mix of short, punchy climbs and longer, gradual ascents, with gradients ranging from 5–10% on narrow, well-paved roads that demand both power and precision. The climbs are often irregular, featuring steep ramps followed by false flats, and are interspersed with technical descents that require sharp bike-handling skills, particularly on the twisting roads that cut through the region’s characteristic bocage countryside.
The race dynamics are shaped by the constant changes in elevation and the tactical opportunities they present, with attacks launching on the steepest sections or during the technical descents, where gaps can open quickly. The peloton remains tightly packed on the flatter stretches, but the punchy hills and winding roads often create opportunities for late breaks, particularly in the final kilometers. The wind can play a role on the exposed plateaus and open valleys, where crosswinds may split the field into smaller groups. The finish is typically contested in a reduced bunch sprint on a slightly uphill drag or a fast, technical run-in through narrow roads, though a well-timed solo move or a small group of riders can sometimes escape if the peloton fails to organize an effective chase. La Périgord Ladies is a race of attrition and strategy, where the interplay of terrain, weather, and teamwork creates a demanding and unpredictable test against the backdrop of the Dordogne’s historic landscapes.
