2nd GP Citta del Mandorlato di Cologna Veneta 2026 🇮🇹 MJ – Cologna Veneta – Cologna Veneta : 114,3 km
Citta del Mandorlo unfolds across the undulating terrain of the Veneto region in northeastern Italy, where the roads wind through a landscape of rolling hills, fertile farmland, and historic towns. The course is a mix of short, punchy climbs and longer, gradual ascents, with gradients typically ranging from 5–9% on roads that twist through vineyards, olive groves, and small villages. The climbs are irregular, featuring steep ramps followed by false flats, while the descents are fast and technical, with tight corners and uneven surfaces that demand precise bike handling. The flatter sections are rarely straightforward, as the roads often narrow through town centers or open into exposed stretches where crosswinds can disrupt the peloton.
The race dynamics are shaped by these rolling roads and the tactical opportunities they present, with attacks often launching on the steeper ramps or during moments of wind exposure. The final kilometers frequently feature a fast, technical run-in through the streets of Cittadella or a nearby town, where a reduced bunch sprint or a small breakaway group contests the line. The Citta del Mandorlo rewards explosiveness, tactical awareness, and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing terrain, capturing the essence of a classic Italian one-day race.
The 114.3 km long route, includes a 4.9 km city circuit to be repeated eight times, followed by a passage in the neighboring municipalities: Zimella, Bagnolo di Lonigo, Lonigo, Monticello di Fara, Meledo di Sarego, Grancona (GPM), Bocca d’Ascesa, Pederiva, Spiazzo, Lonigo (second GPM), Alonte (two laps), before returning to Cologna Veneta through Bagnolo and Zimella.
