50th Giro Della Lunigiana 2026 🇮🇹 (2.1) MJ – Stage 1 – Portofino – Chiavari : 93,4 km
Giro della Lunigiana is a UCI junior multi-stage road race through the hilly landscapes of Liguria and northern Tuscany, combining five stages and semi-stages over approximately 400 km. The route alternates between rolling roads, longer mountain climbs and flatter coastal sections, creating a varied rhythm across the race. The 93.4 km second stage includes the climb toward Uscio and the Passo della Scoffera before a long descent into the Fontanabuona Valley, while the 45.8 km second semi-stage features the climbs toward Foce and Biassa followed by a technical descent toward the coast. The final 108.1 km stage contains repeated ascents, including Montemarcello, with little sustained flat terrain. Narrow roads, frequent bends and rapidly changing gradients make positioning important, particularly before climbs and descents. Short stages encourage aggressive pacing, while the longer mountain stages favor careful energy management. The peloton can fragment on the harder climbs and reform on descents. Finishes range from reduced-group sprints to late attacks or solo moves.
Due to a failure to notify all riders of the earlier finish time, the jury, together with the organizer, has decided to cancel all classifications except for the King of the Mountains (GPM) classification.
