Clásico RCN 2026 🇨🇴 (NE) ME – Stage 1 – Mosquera – Zipaquirá : 182,9 km
Clásico RCN is a multi-stage road race across Colombia, combining high-altitude mountain roads, rolling countryside, tropical valleys and fast urban sections. The race typically features around nine stages, with varied distances and terrain creating a demanding test of endurance, climbing ability and tactical awareness. Flat stages include long paved roads suited to sustained speed, while mountainous sections feature extended ascents with gradients commonly around 5–8% and steeper ramps exceeding 10%. High altitude can significantly increase the physical demands, while warm temperatures, humidity and changing weather conditions add further challenges. Technical descents, narrow roads and frequent changes in gradient require precise bike handling and careful positioning. Racing can alternate between controlled bunch riding, early breakaways and aggressive attacks on the major climbs. The peloton may fragment at altitude before regrouping on descents and flatter roads. Sprinters can contest faster stages, while climbers and all-rounders target the most selective terrain. The overall race can be decided through climbing performances, time trials or late attacks.
