Tour de Kyushu Kokura Castle Criterium 2026 🇯🇵 (1.CRT) – Sasebo : 45 km
Sasebo Criterium is an urban exhibition road race on a compact circuit around Sasebo’s port-side streets, combining paved straights with sharp corners and frequent changes of direction. The course is typically around 1.5 km per lap, creating a fast format with little elevation gain. With no sustained climbs, the main physical demands come from repeated accelerations out of corners, maintaining speed on the straights and recovering between efforts. Tight turns, braking zones and barriers make line choice and positioning crucial, while coastal exposure can introduce wind on open sections. The pace is often high from the start as riders contest the front before the tighter corners. The peloton can stretch through turns and regroup on the straights, while attacks are difficult to sustain on such a short circuit. As the laps decrease, lead-outs and positioning battles intensify. The finish generally favors a high-speed bunch sprint, though a late move can succeed if it gains separation.
