23rd Vuelta Internacional Femenina a Costa Rica (2.2) WE – Stage 3 – Parque La Fortuna – Bulevar de Guápiles : 125 km
Vuelta Internacional Femenina a Costa Rica is a UCI 2.2 multi-stage women’s road race through the varied landscapes of Costa Rica, combining tropical lowlands, rolling countryside and mountainous terrain across several stages. The route typically alternates between relatively flat sections and demanding climbs, with longer ascents commonly featuring gradients around 5–8% and steeper ramps reaching double digits. Narrow roads, frequent bends and technical descents require careful positioning and precise bike handling, while heat, humidity and sudden tropical rainfall can significantly influence road conditions and energy management. Breakaways can form on flatter sections before the peloton increases the pace toward the principal climbs, where the field may fragment into smaller groups. Descents and valley roads can allow riders to regroup before the next ascent, creating repeated changes in the tactical situation. Sprinters can contest flatter stages, while climbing specialists and versatile riders become more important on mountainous days. The race can produce bunch sprints, reduced-group finishes, late attacks or solo moves depending on the stage profile and accumulated fatigue.
