8th GP Rik Van Looy 2026 🇧🇪 (1.2) ME – Westerlo – Herentals : 184,4 km
GP Rik Van Looy is a UCI 1.2 one-day road race for elite and U23 riders across the relatively flat roads of the Kempen, covering approximately 184 km between Westerlo and Herentals. The route features mostly paved rural roads, long straight sections and a lightly undulating passage through wooded and agricultural areas, with around 588 metres of total elevation gain. Short rises and rolling sections provide brief changes of gradient, but there are no sustained climbs, keeping the race centered on speed, positioning and repeated accelerations. Narrow roads, technical bends and changes in road width require riders to remain near the front, particularly before the more restrictive sections. The field can stretch when the pace increases through the wooded and lightly hilly passages, while flatter roads allow groups to regroup. The route includes multiple passages through the start and finish communities, adding repeated opportunities for attacks and counterattacks. As the race approaches Herentals, positioning becomes increasingly important, with the closing kilometres favoring a fast sprint, a reduced group or a late breakaway.
