La Classique Puisaye Forterre 2026 🇫🇷 (1.1) MJ – Saint-Fargeau – Toucy : 124,2 km
La Classique Puisaye Forterre is a UCI junior one-day road race through the rolling countryside of Burgundy, covering 127 km between the Puisaye and Forterre regions. The route combines narrow rural roads, open agricultural sections and repeated short climbs, producing frequent changes in pace without the sustained ascents of a mountainous race. Gradients on the smaller rises can reach around 8–10%, with short steeper ramps adding sharper accelerations and demanding careful positioning. Four passages across the finishing area create a circuit-like finale, allowing the field to repeatedly approach the same closing roads while fatigue accumulates. Crosswinds on exposed farmland, tight corners and changing road widths can further increase the importance of staying near the front. The race can begin with attacks and attempts to form a breakaway before the peloton settles into a faster pursuit rhythm. Successive climbs can thin the field, while descents and flatter sections offer opportunities to regroup. The finish is suited to a reduced group, a late attack or a sprint from riders who have conserved energy through the repeated undulations.
