14th Tour of Taihu Lake 2026 🇨🇳 (2.1) ME – Stage 2 – Changxing – Changxing : 153,2 km
Tour of Taihu Lake is a UCI 2.1 five-stage road race across the low-lying landscapes of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, covering approximately 588 km over five days. The route is predominantly flat and fast, with wide paved roads, long straight sections, urban circuits and exposed roads around the Taihu region. Stage distances range from about 79 km to 154 km, while the opening Nanjing circuit and final Wuxi stage provide the most noticeable elevation changes, with roughly 997 and 864 metres of climbing respectively. The remaining stages are largely flat, favoring sustained speed and controlled positioning rather than prolonged climbing. Short rises, frequent corners and changing road widths can still create gaps, particularly when the peloton accelerates into finishing circuits. Early breakaways may form, but the relatively modest elevation and compact stage distances allow the main field to maintain control. Crosswinds and road furniture add further positioning pressure. Sprint teams can dictate the tempo on the flatter stages, while reduced groups may emerge on the hillier days. Finishes are generally suited to fast bunch sprints, although late attacks can succeed when the field is stretched.
