50th Gran Premio Sportivi di Poggiana – Trofeo Bonin Costruzioni 2026 🇮🇹 (1.2U) MU23 – Poggiana – Poggiana : 164,5 km
Gran Premio Sportivi di Poggiana is a UCI 1.2 one-day road race run on rolling Veneto terrain, where short climbs, narrow roads, and repeated changes in rhythm shape the day. The course usually combines fast valley sections with punchy rises and technical approaches that reward good positioning and efficient climbing. Riders face a demanding mix of pacing and acceleration, as the race often becomes selective through successive attacks rather than one long ascent. Crosswinds, road furniture, and tight corners can add pressure in the run-in, making the peloton difficult to control. Team tactics are important, with some squads working to keep the race together while others use the hilly terrain to force splits and launch breakaways. Typical finales can feature a reduced group sprint, a late solo move, or a small escape holding on if the chase loses coordination. It is a race that values alertness, repeated effort, and clean handling on roads that rarely allow a calm rhythm.
The hard work of the UC Asolo Bike Poggiana team, led by Giampietro Bonin, was rewarded with an intense, thrilling, and spectacular race that rewarded Nicolas Milesi (Ineos Grenadiers). He was joined on the podium by Tommaso Anastasia (Technipes) and Cristian Sanfilippo (Biesse), who shared the final kilometers as scouts.
THE REPORT – 175 riders started from Poggiana: the first part of the race was very fast, with the peloton still relatively compact as it entered the hill circuit. Here, between the Cassanego climb and the Santa Lucia ramps, a furious battle broke out. At the start of the fourth lap on the hill circuit, Cristian Sanfilippo (Biesse Carrera) seized the opportunity to pull away, gaining a one-minute lead over a group of about twenty riders. Nicolas Milesi (Ineos Grenadiers) emerged from this chasing group, chasing after a long chase, and, after a long chase, caught up with Sanfilippo during the final climb to the Santa Lucia categorized climb. The pair traveled in concert and passed by the Poggiana bell with a 30-second lead over the chasing pack. The tug-of-war between the attackers and the small group behind them was fierce, with the gap narrowing to 15 seconds, and it was then that Tommaso Anastasia (Technipes) found the perfect opportunity to close the gap on the two leaders. The rest of the peloton, however, remained out of the fight for victory. Nicolas Milesi (Ineos Grenadiers) clearly prevailed in the three-man sprint, finishing ahead of Anastasia and Sanfilippo. Mattia Negrante (XDS Astana) held sway over the chasing pack in the Italian jersey.
THE VOICES – Great enthusiasm for the winner, born in Clusone, Bergamo, born in 2004, who in 2026 had already won the team time trial in Beltrum at the Olympia Tour, held on the roads of Holland. “I’m delighted to have managed to secure the victory. It was a very tough race; I knew I had to get ahead of the climbers, and I managed to do so. When I reached Sanfilippo, we continued in unison and managed to hold off the chasers’ comeback. Then here in Poggiana, I made the most of my fast attack. Thanks to the team for believing in me and trusting me. Winning in Poggiana was a dream for me, and I’m happy to have achieved it,” confided Nicolas Milesi after the finish line.
At the end of the day, Giampietro Bonin, the patron of UC Asolo Bike Poggiana, was also able to celebrate the complete success of the event, which celebrated the 50th edition of the Stars Combat: “It was an extraordinary and unforgettable day for all of us and for all cycling enthusiasts. Thanks to the support of our sponsors and the work of the many volunteers who collaborated to make our event a success, we experienced a Stars Combat worthy of the tradition and prestige that the Poggiana Sports Grand Prix has built over half a century of history. My congratulations go to all the athletes, from first to last, who gave their all, putting on a unique spectacle that will remain in our hearts for a long time to come.”
THE JERSEYS – The star, a symbol of ambition and success, went to Nicolas Milesi, who also wore the yellow 2G Verniciatura jersey . Celebrating the day’s best riders on the podium were many former professionals such as Maurizio Fondriest, Alessandro Ballan, Gilberto Simoni, Marco Bandiera, and Matteo Tosatto.
