The Tadej Pogačar Criterium is a cycling race held in Komenda, his hometown, where the the biggest stars of world cycling. The event represents the highlight of the sporting calendar and a celebration of cycling for the local community and numerous foreign visitors. The race takes place on a circuit; one lap measures 980 meters, and the cyclists complete a total of 35 laps. The criterium is designed as a points race, in which victory does not necessarily go to the fastest rider at the finish line, but to the cyclist who accumulates the most points throughout the race. Intermediate sprints are organized during the race, in which the first four cyclists receive points (5, 3, 2, and 1). The winner is the cyclist with the most points accumulated over all laps; in the event of a tie, the better finish at the finish line decides the winner.
