2nd VALROMEY Tour Féminin II CNR CA 2026 🇫🇷 (1.1) WJ – Race 2 – Plateau d’Hauteville – Plateau d’Hauteville : 72,9 km
Valromey Tour Féminin is a UCI 1.1 classification stage race that unfolds across the rugged and picturesque landscapes of the Ain department in eastern France, where the roads wind through the Jura Mountains, dense forests, and the rolling hills of the Valromey and Bugey regions. The terrain is a mix of short, explosive climbs and longer, sustained ascents, with gradients frequently reaching 6–10% on narrow, well-paved roads that demand both power and precision. The climbs are often irregular, featuring steep ramps, technical switchbacks, and exposed sections where the wind can shift unexpectedly, while the descents are fast and technical, with tight corners and uneven surfaces that reward confidence and skill.
The race dynamics are shaped by the constant changes in rhythm, with attacks launching on the steepest sections or during the technical descents, where gaps can open quickly in the high-speed moments. The peloton remains tightly packed on the flatter stages, but the punchy hills and winding roads often create opportunities for late breaks, particularly in the final kilometers. The wind plays a significant role, especially on the exposed ridges and open plateaus, where crosswinds can split the field into smaller groups. The finish styles vary—some stages conclude in a reduced bunch sprint on a slightly uphill drag, while others favor a solo breakaway or a small group of riders contesting the line after a final climb or a fast descent into one of the region’s scenic villages. The Valromey Tour Féminin is a race of endurance and tactics, where the interplay of terrain, weather, and teamwork creates a demanding and unpredictable test against the backdrop of the Jura’s natural beauty.
