Vuelta a San Juan 2026 🇦🇷 (NE) ME – Prologue – Santa Lucia – Santa Lucia : 7,6 km
The traditional and recognized San Juan road cycling race , aimed at male cyclists of the U23 and Elite category, will be attended by renowned local, national and international teams from neighboring countries. The Vuelta a San Juan will have the organization of Pedal Club Olimpia, support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport with the Secretariat of Sports and San Juan Sports Agency, supervision of the San Juan Cycling Federation and the main patronage of the Government of San Juan.
From this Friday, January 23, with the realization of the Prologue in Santa Lucía, the dispute of the 41ª edition of the Vuelta a San Juan began. The competition is intended for cyclists of the Sub 23 and Elite category, with the presence of local, national and international teams.
It has the organization of Pedal Club Olimpia and the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, through the Secretariat of Sports and San Juan Sports Agency, supervision of the San Juan Cycling Federation and the main auspices of the Government of San Juan.
After the presentation of the participating teams at the starting and finish point, at the intersection of Tomás Edison and Colón streets, there were six series of three laps in which the 161 registered were distributed; five qualifiers, where the first three of each partial passed to the final on a route of 7.6 km per lap, and then run the final.
Route: through Colón Street to the north to Cordillera de los Andes Street, to the east to San Juan Street, to the south to San Lorenzo Street, to the west to Colón Street, to the north to Línea de Meta in the same place where the Largada (Colón and Tomás Edison) was.
At 20:32 and with the first drops of rain falling, the first series was launched, which after 29m54s and 22.8 km traveled was won by Tomás Moyano (Municipality of Santa Lucia-Gremios por el Deporte), escorted by Nicolás Tivani (Municipality of Pocito) and Marcos León Rodríguez (Diberbool), qualifying the three to the final.
After a short period, the second series was launched at 21:08. Given the inclement weather, the race commission decided to change the way to continue: To protect the cyclists, the qualifying series 2, 3, 4 and 5 had a single turn to the circuit (and not the three planned) and it was decided that the final race, with the 15 best cyclists, would be 2 turns (and not the three planned). The second series was won by Lisandro Bravo (Chimbas Te Quiero); second was Gerardo Tivani (Municipalidad de Pocito) and third, Kevin Castro (Diberbool).
The third part was taken by Cristóbal Báez Muñoz (Plus Racing Cycling Team); Hugo Ruiz Calle (SEP San Juan) was second; third, Héctor Dinamarca (Chilean National Team), qualifying all three for the final.
Fourth series: First place for Marcos Méndez (Diberbool); 2º Leandro Velardez (Municipality of Pocito); 3º Omar Azzen (Portal Santa Lucía).
Fifth series: Victory for Francisco Kotsakis (Plus Racing Cycling Team); 2º Ramiro Videla (Active Force); 3º Adrián Díaz (Portal Santa Lucía).
Once the five qualifying series were played, the fifteen best, they ran the circuit on a single occasion (7.6 km), and the race authorities had to modify the number of turns again, since the rain intensified at ten at night.
The victory was taken by Kevin Castro (Diberbool); the second place was in the hands of Tomás Moyano (Municipality of Santa Lucía), finishing in third place Gerardo Tivani (Municipality of Pocito).
Castro, with his first place, is the leader of the classification and will wear the jersey as the leader of the individual general; after receiving the award, he said: “The truth is that starting very well, with the right foot, what better than tomorrow to wear the leader shirt. Well, dreamed, the truth, I didn’t even have the plans, honestly. And that it is given to me in this way, he finds me very motivated, so let’s continue for what continues with this return. Expectations are good, we have a good team, so we will continue working to keep people well located in the general and on my side, for the stages.”
