Vuelta a San Juan 2026 🇦🇷 (NE) ME – Stage 2 – Sarmiento – Sarmiento : 131 km
The traditional and recognized San Juan road cycling race , aimed at male cyclists of the U23 and Elite category, will be attended by renowned local, national and international teams from neighboring countries. The Vuelta a San Juan will have the organization of Pedal Club Olimpia, support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport with the Secretariat of Sports and San Juan Sports Agency, supervision of the San Juan Cycling Federation and the main patronage of the Government of San Juan.
After the concentration and signatures of the cyclists, at 15:33 hours, the second stage of the 41st�rd edition of the Vuelta a San Juan, from the heart of the Villa de Media Agua, in the Sarmiento Department, started by controlled train.
Four minutes later and after 1,700 meters, the official way of the partial was given with the majority peloton pedaling, with 131 km ahead and already on route 40, the 117 cyclists began to raise the pace.
The first special pass was in Aranda and 25 de Mayo, Tres Esquinas, at 11 kilometers and it was won by the Paraguayan Sebastián Acuña (Active Force); 2º Daniel Lucero (Municipality of Pocito); 3º Alejandro Cabral (Oeste Neumáticos – AC Grafic).
The second excitement was for the first Meta Sprint on route 319 and route 296, with 28.5 km, where the victory was in the hands of the Chilean Jacob Decar Zúñiga (Stamina); 2º Leandro Velardez (Municipality of Pocito); 3º Héctor Quintana, from Chile (Plus Racing).
Lisandro Bravo (Municipality of Chimbas), Cristóbal Ramírez (Chile), Iván Ruiz (Municipality of Santa Lucía), Emiliano Pérez (Diberbool), followed by a group of six men at 1m13s and 2m57s appeared the peloton with the leader of the general, who at that time was changing hands, with 80 kilometers walked. That advantage allowed Lisandro Bravo to keep the second special pass (75 km).
The second Meta Sprint, on 25 de Mayo Street and Adán Quiroga, with 94 km, was won by Cristóbal Ramírez (Chile); 2º Lisandro Bravo (Municipality of Chimbas); 3º Emiliano Pérez (Diberbool).
At 120 kilometers it was time to define the first Mountain Goal (3rd category) on route 153 and 9 de Julio, Los Berros. The first place went to Lisandro Bravo (Municipality of Chimbas), escorted by Cristóbal Ramírez (Chile); third Emiliano Pérez (Diberbool); fourth finished Iván Ruiz (Municipality of Santa Lucía).
The last ten kilometers came the compact peloton with an important rhythm and was less than thirty seconds from the four pointers until they were reached and when it came to defining everything changed because the Peruvian Robinson Ruiz Calle escaped, although he walked only a couple of minutes until he was neutralized by the majority peloton.
The final packaging of the race was for the Puntano Tomás Moyano (Municipality of Santa Lucía), placing second Nicolás Tivani (Municipality of Pocito), who maintained the leadership of the general; third was the Chilean Cristóbal Baez Muñoz (Plus Racing); in the same place the second Mountain Goal was defined, of 2ª category, there the fourth place that meant a point for this goal, was for the Chilean cyclist José Autran Carrillo of the Chilean National Team.
At the end of the stage, the winner, Tomás Moyano said: “The truth is that, since the flag drop, my teammates did an impressive job. Today they could trust me and I couldn’t let them down.
The legs feel very good for this return to San Juan. I think we are up to the occasion and there are seven very interesting days left, so I hope I don’t fail.”
What was the key in the promotion? Cañada Honda, Los Berros, When was the attack? Well, a kilometer to go, when we saw how it was coming, I asked a colleague to take me out, he attacked and that was what allowed me to stay with today’s stage. Well, everyone did a very big job because since we started the climb I was very nervous, there were a couple of very interesting falls, but thank God we were not involved in any of them.”
Expectations or goals for this week? “Well, this is day by day, so for the moment it’s not wasting time and moving forward.
