Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup 2025 🇻🇳 (NE) ME – Stage 3 – Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi) : 42,5 km
The Ho Chi Minh City Television National Cycling Race (Vietnamese: Cuộc đua xe đạp toàn quốc tranh Cúp truyền hình Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh), or simply known as the HTV Cup, is a road bicycle racing stage race held annually in Vietnam. It was first run in 1989. Jointly organised by Ho Chi Minh City Television and Vietnam Cycling Federation, the race is held every April to celebrate the anniversary of national reunification and other major holidays.
On the morning of April 6, the racers entered a short 42.5 km race around Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi). The cool weather and flat track were ideal conditions for the racers to show their speed.
Immediately after the starting signal, consecutive attacks broke out. At two pull-off points along the way, Nick Kergozou finished first, demonstrating his outstanding sprinting ability.
The climax was pushed up in the final lap when the teams from Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Vinh Long all lined up to compete. Loic Desriac – who was holding both the yellow and green jerseys – suddenly made a strong breakthrough in the last 500m.
However, Nick Kergozou made a lightning-fast sprint, passing his rival just before the finish line to win the stage in a spectacular way.
Despite losing the green jersey, racer Loic Desriac (Domesco Dong Thap Pharmaceutical Club) still held on to the prestigious yellow jersey. Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Binh (HCMC New Group) finished third, successfully defending the orange jersey – the title for the best Vietnamese racer. The white jersey for young racer is still held by Dang Van Phap (620 Chau Thoi Vinh Long Club).
