The Coppa Montes is a cycling race held around Monfalcone, in the Friuli-Venenie Giulia region. Created in 1955, the event takes place on April 25, a public holiday that commemorates the anniversary of the Liberation of Italy. It pays tribute to the former Italian resistance fighter Silvio Marcuzzi, nicknamed “Montes”. The latter was murdered by troops of the Italian fascist regime in November 1944. The competition is currently part of the national calendar of the Italian Cycling Federation, in category 1.14. It is therefore reserved for junior cyclists.
