The 64th opening race in Leonding promises to be pure excitement. The opening of the Austrian cycling season on Sunday, March 30, 2025, will see the first showdown between all Austrian teams on home soil. The race, which is part of the Upper Austria CLASSICS, also marks the start of the Road Cycling League Austria. “The professional cyclists are looking forward to the first road race in Austria; the selective course with the key mountain classification at Aichberg promises very exciting races,” emphasizes Upper Austrian Cycling President Paul Resch.
Women’s cycling in Austria is on the rise, and the race in Leonding is also enjoying increasing registration numbers. Over 60 participants are expected. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the women will cover 86.4 kilometers. In 2024, the course was lengthened by 25% to reflect the increased level of performance in women’s cycling. Last year, German Corinna Lechner (Wheel Divas Cycling Team) took the win in 2:21:32 hours, with Hungarian Petra Zsanko (Team ARBÖ Rapso Knittelfeld) finishing in the same time. Elisa Winter of the Union Raiffeisen Radteam Tirol secured 5th place as the best Austrian, 14 seconds behind.
